Study of Taqwa - ORIGINAL

أَنْ تَعْبُدَ اللَّهَ كَأَنَّكَ تَرَاهُ فَإِنْ لَمْ تَكُنْ تَرَاهُ فَإِنَّهُ يَرَاكَ

"Worship Allah as though you see Him — and if you cannot see Him, know that He sees you."

This painting is a reflection on Taqwa — God-consciousness that holds steady whether or not anyone is watching.

The figure prostrates alone in the deepest part of a forest. No rug. No mosque. No one to witness him but the trees.

Beneath him, the still water holds his exact reflection — a perfect record of the moment, seen by something he cannot see back. That is Taqwa: living as though you are always witnessed, because you are.
